Encouraging community empowerment and self-reliance, LDRU is committed to building people's capacity and competence to positively transform their lives and the communities they live in. LDRU is operating in Uganda and has programs in areas of sustainable livelihoods, community empowerment, education for the poor, empowering girl child to determine their future, and building schools to promote education.

OUR MISSION

Compassionate for all of humanity, LDRU is dedicated to addressing the causes and effects of human suffering and poverty, linking local action and responses to national and international advocacy.

OUR VISION

Individuals and Communities in Uganda are able to meet their basic needs, achieve their full potential and claim their full rights in order to alleviate poverty.

CORE VALUES

COMMITTED AND COMPASSION
LDRU dedicated to working with those people who are suffering, unable to speak up for themselves, and those who are marginalized and live in isolated areas. Through taking time to evaluate the needs of each community and individual, we’re better able to help them achieve a brighter future.

STEWARDSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Our commitment to efficient resource management is the foundation from which we deliver maximum benefits and opportunities to communities. We are strongly committed to transparency and accountability to the people and communities we serve, as well as our partners and donors.

GENDER AND JUSTICE
We believe that both women and men were created. Gender justice is expressed through equality and balanced power relations between women, girls, men, and boys. We are committed to eliminating institutional, cultural, and interpersonal systems of privilege and oppression that sustain discrimination against women. Women and girls form the majority of those living in poverty in communities in Uganda. They have limited access to productive resources, as most African societies prescribe less power and less influence in decision-making when compared to their male counterparts. Women and Girls are exposed to various forms of discrimination, violence, and exploitation. We, therefore, believe that transforming gender and power relations is critical to ending poverty and challenging inequality.

PARTICIPATION AND INCLUSION
At LDRU, we believe that sustainable development can be achieved through the meaningful participation of all people in our programs regardless of gender, age and ability. We work to make sure that all people are part of the decision-making processes in their respective communities. We appreciate the value and power of diversity and inclusion not only in communities where we work but also within our own workforce.
